Release #57
[info]marta wrote in [info]lj_releases
Release #57 is now live. Here's what is in it:

Feature changes and improvements:
  • Added Notes feature to "Add Friend" and "Ban and Unban users" pages. See this post in [info]paidmembers for more details
  • Added link to new comment/entry search on all current search pages
  • Writers Block email notifications now contain the question in the body of the email
RTE gets some lovin' - we've updated our RTE editor to FCKeditor version 2.6.5. This addresses some outstanding bugs, and some additional bugs now have fixes, too:
  • When switching from the RTE to HTML editor, links for syndicated feeds no longer become broken (LJSV-687)
  • Removed super-special celebrity status of a particular journal, which was getting inadvertently linked to whenever a div class was used to reference an LJ user (LJSV-625)
  • Fixed issue where entry content was replaced by <br /> upon post in some situations (LJSV-747)
  • Pressing "ъ" (Cyrillic "Yer" sign) when using the RTE no longer switches to bold text mode, and now correctly renders the character
  • Switching from RTE to HTML editor no longer inserts extra line/space (LJSV-486)
  • RTE functions now work properly in Safari 4.0 (LJSV-648)
  • Insert Image link now works correctly in all browsers
  • The "LJ user" button now gives correct code in Opera so that lj-user tags render properly
Changes, updates, bugfixes:
  • Comments containing links from untrustworthy domains are automatically screened
  • The time on an entry now updates to reflect the time actually posted and not the time the update.bml window was opened
  • Memcache workaround for disappearing comment issue (LJSV-748)
  • Fixed bug in Sponsored Accounts program so that users can decline after the sponsorship period has expired
  • Adjusted width of right column on logged-in homepage for livejournal.ru
  • My Guests interstitial now functions as intended (it is set to off, even though the "yes" radio button is pre-checked)
  • When adding a contact on LJ Messenger, if the person has not set up an account it now sends proper request to contact to create account
  • Fixed code glitch on charity v-gifts in gift shop
  • After redirect to login page, user is returned to orignial page after logging in (LJSV-685; DW-1460 - Thank you!)
  • Ratings indicators on livejournal.ru homepage now work in IE
  • Increased timeout and cache time so that external stylesheets (cssproxy check) should now appear properly under periods of high load (LJSV-450)
  • Link types that end in things like "-pool" should now render correctly and not get cut off
  • Comments with padding/backgrounds no longer wrap outside of the comment box (LJSV-755)
  • AdSense tab now shows for Basic/Plus users but is greyed out
  • Turned on geo-location feature on new account creation and edit profile pages

Additions and improvements for Paid Feature
[info]marta wrote in [info]paidmembers
We've made some additions and improvements to Notes!

The Notes feature has been added to two action-taking pages:
  • You can now add a Note directly on the Add a friend page - handy if you'd like to mark down where you met them or another name you know them by!
  • On the Ban and unban users page (under Account -> Privacy) you can now add a Note, including to a group of users all banned at the same time (so that next year you won't need to ask yourself "hey, why did I ban these guys?")

Other changes:
  • When you're viewing your existing Notes they're grayed out; click in a field to activate it to change the text (this page can be found from the header by using Profile -> Manage Notes)
  • Changes to editing:
    • When you're going to create a new Note but one already exists, you'll get a warning that you're editing an existing Note
    • You can now delete a note from the "Edit note" pop-up in the hover menu
    • You can now delete notes for multiple selected users on the Manage notes page
    • When you change Notes on "Ban|unban users" page, they can be edited and saved with "Save Changes" button

LiveJournal Major Notes: Notes, Tweaks, Bug Kills, LJ_Cares!
[info]theljstaff wrote in [info]news

Notes augmented

We've enhanced and de-bugged Notes. If you haven't tried it yet, now's the time! You can create a private note when you ban multiple users. You can also delete multiple notes at once. Lastly, paid users have the option to add a note (visible only to you) whenever you add or remove a friend (guaranteed to avoid embarrassing social mishaps). If you don't currently have a paid account, you can upgrade now! It only takes a few minutes and costs less than a bad shopping mall haircut (plus, it's way more fashionable)!

Product tweaks and bug kill

  1. In another effort to zap spam, comments containing links from domains LiveJournal deems untrustworthy are now automatically screened
  2. If you sign up to get notifications of the Writer's Block question of the day, you'll now see the daily question in the email notification, so you'll have a little extra time to ponder before you post. You can subscribe to Writers Block notifications here
  3. The issue causing random comments to vanish has been fixed!
  4. If you visit a LiveJournal page and get prompted to log in, you'll be returned to the same page after you sign in (Thanks, Dreamwidth)!
  5. If you don't edit the timestamp for an entry at all, the entry timestamp will indicate the time the entry was posted instead of the time the Update Journal page was loaded
  6. Comments with paddings/backgrounds render correctly within the comment box (and will no longer wrap outside the box and break frames/margins)

New FCK fixes rich text editor!

  1. We've updated our RTE (Rich Text Editor) to FCKeditor version 2.6.5
  2. When switching from the RTE to HTML editor, links for syndicated feeds are no longer broken
  3. RTE now functions properly in Safari 4.0
  4. An extra line/space will not be auto-inserted whenever you switch from RTE to HTML editor
  5. The insert image link now works correctly in all browsers

LiveJournal Cares

We’re pleased to introduce you to [info]lj_cares, a new LiveJournal community dedicated to raising awareness and funds for U.S. charitable organizations that improve the health and well-being of people around the world. Each month, we’ll spotlight a nonprofit that is making a significant global impact through medical research, public outreach, and/or humanitarian social programs. Charities will be selected in accordance with the U.S. calendar of national health observances based on a high rating (of over 60%) on Charity Navigator and global scope of impact.

In this, our inaugural month of November, we will celebrate national adoption month by offering a charitable virtual gift (priced at $2.99) to support Love Without Boundaries, an organization that saves the lives of orphans with life-threatening diseases and places them in loving homes around the world. LiveJournal will donate 100% of the proceeds from the sale of charitable vgifts (we'll cover the cost of credit card transaction fees). To learn more about Love Without Boundaries, please visit [info]lj_cares and read about how they helped save Baby Kang and the Rainbow Twins from fatal illnesses, who are now thriving in nurturing families. You can purchase your Love Without Boundaries gifts in the Virtual Gift shop.

prayer request and update
[info]turtlechelle
Hey all, First off can you all please pray for my brother. He has been admited to the hospital with severe stomach pain. They have discovered fluid around his stomach. They are running tests to find out what's wrong.

This weekend is the Washington Council of the Blind convention. It is the first time in several years that I have not gone. I just didn't have the money to go this year. Its strange not to be there. I was planning to listen to the stream over ACB radio, but it wasn't working until late in the afternoon. I did get to listen to a workshop on digital books. I hope the stream works tomorrow. If it does you can listen from 9 to 4:30 Pacific time. And then the banquet will be streamed at 7. Or you could listen to the Pennsylvania councel on a different channel of ACB radio as it will be streaming all day and the speaker for the banquet is the narrator from convention that I liked so much his name is once again escaping me. Or you could actually do something fun with your day LOL!
My volunteer training went well. It was very brief. i will be with the same second grade teacher as last year apparently she asked for me. Not sure why since I was hardly there last year but whatever. I will be listening to the kids read deodable open court books. I found them on RFBD and have them all downloaded. i love RFBD!
Anyway, I'll be with the second graders and then with the reading specialist listening to um what else but more kids reading LOL. I forgot to ask what grade it is though LOL. I will be going twice a week in the afternoon.
I guess there's nothing else else to say.

LiveJournal Major Notes: Spam counter-attack, RSS feeds again, CSI Deadly Intent contest
[info]theljstaff wrote in [info]news

The empire strikes back

In recent weeks, we've taken huge steps towards blocking spam accounts on LiveJournal. In fact, we've suspended as many as 30,000 accounts in a single day! We've implemented several pre-emptive measures to prevent the creation of spam accounts, and we've honed our detection of suspicious content. Spam bots are a crafty lot, so we'll continue to refine our tactics and keep up the good fight to keep you safe from spam attacks on LiveJournal.

RSS feeds again

If you're addicted to [info]xkcd_rss, [info]icanhaschzbrgr, or other syndicated feeds, we're pleased to report that we've resolved the update error that was mucking up your RSS feeds. While content was being pulled correctly, it wasn't being posted to the feeds themselves. Late last week, we finally nailed down what we hope was the root problem, so content should post properly. We thank you for your patience.

life update
[info]turtlechelle
I'm trying to think of things to do to keep myself awake. I always get sleepy this time of night if I'm not out somewhere for some reason. Anyway, I thought I'd waste some time by writing in here.
So, how's the weather. Here its cold which makes jumping in my bed even more appealing. Actually its not at all cold. tell me says its 51 degrees with a slight breeze. I think the breeze is more than slight. I turned the heat on a few minutes ago, so hopefully it helps.
For those who listened to my voice post this next bit will be boring. On Thursday my waterheater broke. Water went all over half my bedroom and in to my bathroom. They got atl east ten gallons of water out of my carpet. once again they brought in the big fans to dry it out. I left for my parents house late that afternoonl. I was very glad to get out of there as it was quite loud. on the voice post you can hear how loud it was. The time at my parents was fine. I came home on Saturday. I'll be out there again next week for a night as Ellie has a vet ap to check her paws. I went to work out today and one of the therapists comments on how good Ellie looked compared ot the last itme she'd seen her which was over a month ago. She said seemed much perkier. She is doing really well. yesterday I took her for a walk, but forgot to give her a pain med in the morning. I could totally tell a difference. We cut he walk short.

The past couple Sundays I've gone to a small Baptist church here in town. It was a friendly place. I plan to check out 1 maybe 2 other churches over the next couple weeks.
Tomorrow is my volunteer training the same one I have ot od every year. I'm hoping to find out what I will be doing and when. I've really been praying about this. I want to be useful working with kids who really need it
I haven't yet filled out the application for faith bible institute although I'm pretty sure it is something I want to do I need to get that done by nov 15.
I guess that's all I have to say. I think I'll go read for a while.

ØSS rapporter som PDF til din mail-boks
[info]unicph

Læs her hvordan du gør
